SUMMARY
Part of the Jim Richardson Collection. Dating from May 1976, this matching numbers T160 Trident has not been used for the last couple of years, although started occasionally, so may require some light recommissioning prior to being returned to the road.
DESCRIPTION
- Launched in 1975, the Triumph Trident T160 was the final and most developed version of the iconic British triple
- Built at a time when Triumph was fighting for survival against an onslaught of Japanese competition, the T160 combined classic British character with long-overdue modern refinements
- Its 740cc three-cylinder engine, producing around 58bhp, delivered smooth power and a top speed of over 115mph, ensuring it remained a formidable performer on the road
- Distinguishing features of the T160 included an electric start, left-side gear change and triple disc brakes – a specification that finally brought Triumph’s flagship in line with contemporary expectations
- Despite its short production run before the closure of the Meriden factory in 1977, the T160 has since earned a reputation as one of the most usable and collectible of the classic British superbikes
- This matching numbers bike was first registered on 06/051976 and has not been used for the last couple of years, though reportedly has been started up periodically, so require some light recommissioning prior to being returned to the road
- Supplied with a current V5C (Historic), various old V5s, a folder of receipts and paperwork, a photopcopy of the Triumph Trident and BSA Rocket 3 Service Notes, along with a copy of the Triumph Trident T160 Workshop Manual
