SUMMARY
A distinctive 1970s ‘all-terrain’ motorcycle famed for its balloon tyres and low, approachable stance. Unused for the last two years and will require recommissioning prior to active use. Offered without reserve.
DESCRIPTION
- Suzuki first introduced the RV series in 1971 with the RV90, creating a motorcycle that looked more like a two-wheeled dune buggy than a conventional trail bike. Instantly recognisable thanks to its oversized balloon tyres, the RV was conceived as a fun, go-anywhere machine and quickly became a cult favourite. While not a serious off-roader, its quirky styling and easy-going nature made it hugely appealing
- The range expanded in 1973 to include 50cc and 125cc versions, with the RV125 positioned as the largest and most usable of the line. Powered by a de-tuned version of Suzuki’s TS125 trail bike engine, the RV125 produced around 10bhp and was equipped with a 5-speed gearbox, offering relaxed performance and excellent reliability. Its low seat height and forgiving handling made it particularly well suited to novice riders, while its economy and simplicity also appealed to commuters
- Production of the RV series ceased by the end of the 1977 season, largely eclipsed by the rise of three-wheeled ATVs and quad bikes. Today, the RV125 is increasingly appreciated for its originality, charm, and unmistakable 1970s character
- This example was purchased our the vendor in August 2014 and is supplied with a V5C and expired MOT certificates. Having not been ridden for approximately two years, it will require recommissioning before returning to the road. A fun, user-friendly and increasingly collectible classic Suzuki, offering nostalgic appeal and everyday usability once recommissioned
