SUMMARY

Offered from the Bunbury Collection. A right-hand drive Series III example subject to signifcant expenditure with Iain Tyrrell Classic Cars in 2025.

DESCRIPTION

The Lamborghini Espada remains one of the most distinctive grand tourers of the 1970s, its sharp Gandini styling wrapped around a 3.9-litre V12 offering both performance and refinement. At the time of its launch, the Espada was positioned as Lamborghini’s flagship four-seater GT and remarkably, was even more expensive than the Miura, underlining its exclusivity.

Debuting at the 1972 Turin Motor Show, the Series III came with power steering and air-conditioning as standard. Boasting 365bhp and 290lb/ft of torque, it also carried a revised interior, re-jigged rear suspension and uprated brakes. In production at Sant'Agata Bologna for just six years, a mere 472 were built.

Offered here is a right-hand drive Series III first registered on 1st August 1975, finished in Tahiti Blue and, at the time of cataloguing, the odometer was showing 69,438 miles. The Espada joined the Bunbury Collection in 2021 after having previously been involved in an accident and is therefore recorded as such on HPI.

Undeterred, the current collector has since invested significant time and resources in returning the car to the road. Cheshire Prestige were commissioned to repaint the car, with invoices on file, before it was later entrusted to the very well respected, marque specialist Iain Tyrrell in 2025. The car was delivered to Iain as a rolling shell with engine and gearbox installed but as a non-runner, with the brief to recommission it as a complete, fully functioning vehicle.

There is correspondence and a collection of invoices within the accompanying history file, detailing the level of work undertaken and it's fair to say that expenditure on the car exceeds the current estimate. Interested parties are strongly encouraged to review the documentation and inspect the car in person at Race Retro.

The car is supplied with an MOT valid until 4th August 2026 and is offered reluctantly from the Bunbury Collection due to ill health.
