SUMMARY

Believed to be one of the very earliest production XJ-S models, chassis #28 is supplied with its Heritage Certificate and retains its original UK registration number, NDU 402P. Offered without reserve.

DESCRIPTION

  • Originally finished in Silver Grey and built in right-hand drive, this example is currently presented in black with left-hand drive configuration
  • Fitted with Jaguar’s 5.3-litre V12 engine coupled to a 3-speed automatic transmission, the XJ-S offered effortless grand touring ability and refinement
  • Understood to have been used in period as an experimental and emissions test vehicle in the US, with changes to specification carried out during its early life
  • Imported back to the UK with a NOVA certificate, supplied with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate and documents detailing its history, however, the car now requires full restoration and is offered as a stalled project
  • A rare opportunity to acquire one of the earliest XJ-S models produced, with unique early history and potential for restoration into a highly significant collectors’ car

The Winchester Collection

A number of Jaguars and Daimlers with interesting provenance, including 2 Chassis #1 Daimler Double Six Vanden Plas Saloons,  Series 1 and Series 2, two experimental cars, including an XJ Series 1 and potentially the earliest surviving XJ-S as well as a pair of Donor Cars all offered without reserve. Inspection of these cars is invited, they have formed part of a stalled collection, and as such are offered as is, in need of full restoration but in many cases will prove difficult to resist given their interesting histories.
