SUMMARY

A bespoke build commissioned by EBC Brakes as an open-budget project carried out by Carcass in conjunction with PowerNation TV for their YouTube channel, this multi-viewed Camaro is fully UK road registered and ready to turn some heads.

DESCRIPTION

The 1972 Chevrolet Camaro RS (Rally Sport) is a standout of the second-generation 'F-body' line-up, specifically prized for its unique, European-inspired front-end styling. Unlike the SS and Z28 performance packages, the RS was primarily an appearance upgrade (RPO Z22) that could be added to almost any trim level. The new model's most distinctive feature was the split front bumper (bumperettes) paired with a large, central grille cavity and round parking lights located on the upper portion of the grille, however, the remarkable example on offer here bears very little resemblance to the 1972 Camaro you could expect to find in a period Chevrolet showroom.

Imported from Nevada, this left-hand drive, second-generation, split bumper car was UK road registered and has been subject to a bespoke build commissioned by EBC Brakes as an open-budget project carried out by Carcass (speed shop/bodybuilders) in conjunction with PowerNation TV for their YouTube channel. Pretty well every aspect of this car's unique build is covered with hours of YouTube footage and naturally, as a promotional tool for EBC Brakes, it's fitted with the company’s big brake kit of six-piston front brake callipers and four-piston rears and their catalogue hoses and hard lines.

Having lived in a dry State, the donor car was remarkably rust free and work commenced in 2024. The shell was stripped back to bare metal with extensive fabrications to the bodywork providing stiffening all round the roll cage pick up points. Work included a custom fabricated firewall, transmission tunnel and rear bulkhead, newly fabricated rear inner wheel arches, refreshed and refurbished front subframe with extra strengthening, new nose cone with steel mesh grille, bespoke flared carbon fibre arches front and rear and carbon fibre door skins. When the bodywork was finished the car was treated to full rotisserie finish in black.

Motivation is now provided by a 7.2-litre 'small block' Chevrolet race engine producing 700+bhp and circa 640bhp at the wheels coupled to a Mid Valley 4-speed NASCAR ‘dog box’. The engine and gearbox are mounted six inches further back than standard to improve weight distribution. The full mechanical specification is endless and fully documented in the history file but upgrades include; 9’’ Ford rear axle by Quick Performance, fully floating set up and 3.25 gearing, UMI performance handling kit with uprated upper/lower control arms, roll bar and Viking Berserker coil-overs at the front, uprated leaf springs and mounts and adjustable roll bar and anti-tramp bars on the rear and new, uprated drive shafts, rear hubs and bearings. The prop-shaft is carbon and rated to 1,500bhp.

Beautifully presented in black with EBC graphics, which can obviously be removed, and the 'drama' is completed by a Nine Lives Racing ‘Big Wang’ aluminium adjustable rear wing with ½” gurney flaps and a set of 18” 3-piece 3030 Autosport MOD3 alloy wheels, with grey centres, polished lips and barrels wearing a full matched set of Hoosier Racing A7 slicks.

It's supplied with its original Nevada Title and the relevant paperwork from its UK Registration. Still feeling like a new build, the Camaro would make an excellent show car to market another company's products or could be enjoyed as a head-turning road car (on road-legal tyres), so whether you would use it for showing or showing-off, the results will be memorable.
