SUMMARY

DESCRIPTION

  • In the late 1960s, Italian manufacturer Laverda teamed up with McCormack International Motors to distribute Laverdas under the American Eagle name into the lucrative USA market
  • Basically this collaboration was 'badge engineering' as the models were almost identical to their European family
  • US stunt legend, Evil Knievel, used an American Eagle in the late 1960s and helped in their marketing
  • Only about 150 bikes were ever sold, not helped by the introduction of the all conquering Honda CB750
  • This matching numbers example is presented in good overall condition and in running order
  • Same owner for last 15 years and has undergone a recent engine overhaul and frame re-paint
  • Recently fitted with electronic engineering along with a wheel rebuild with stainless spokes, rewire and carb rebuild
  • Rare model and a great opportunity to own a very unusual Laverda
  • UK-registered on a current V5C
