SUMMARY

The superb Ed Turner-designed, 2,548cc Hemi V8 installed into the Jaguar Mk2 bodyshell resulted in the often underestimated Daimler 250 V8. This post-facelift V-250 has benefited from some fresh paint in recent years and presents well.

DESCRIPTION

  • Introduced in October 1967, the V8 250 was a minor facelift of the long-running 2.5 V8 Saloon
  • Differences were minor - slimline bumpers and over-riders, negative-earth electrics, an alternator instead of a dynamo, padded door cappings, reclinable split-bench front seats and a heated rear window
  • First registered in 1969, this example is finished in Old English White with a dark blue leather interior, the latter still in its original condition and displaying a gently matured patina
  • Resprayed in 2021 by the previous long term owner, with the paintwork and body now presenting well, complemented by stainless steel exhausts and original chrome bumpers
  • Powered by Daimler’s lusty 2.5-litre V8 engine mated to an automatic gearbox with power steering, delivering a smooth and effortless drive
  • Starts readily from its push-button ignition, with smooth gear changes, positive steering and confident braking – 'drives and stops nicely' in the words of our vendor
  • The speedometer is working, although the odometer has ceased to record mileage, currently showing 64,900 miles which is not warranted
  • Previously owned for 19 years by an ex-AA mechanic while living in Spain, always garaged and evidently well maintained
  • Accompanied by a history file including numerous old bills, MOT Certificates and Tax Discs, supporting its provenance and continuity of care
  • This would make a great entry level classic at about half the cost of the equivalent Mk2 Jaguar

Remarks

Tyres were replaced three years ago before I became the owner and I have done very little mileage since I became the owner. The previous owner to myself had the Daimler for 19 years, whilst he lived in Spain and it was very well looked after, always kept in a garage. He was an ex AA mechanic.

Remarks

I have lots of old bills, MOTs and tax discs. The private registration number was put on the car when it was new in 1969 and it stays with the vehicle.
