SUMMARY
A fabulous, road registered Benelli Renzo Pasolini Replica, fitted with a 500cc Honda Four and a recreation of the bike first ridden by 'Paso' in 1967.
DESCRIPTION
- The first four-cylinder Benelli 500 was ridden by Renzo Pasolini to win on its 1967 debut and in 1968, two 500s were entered for the Italian Grand Prix, ridden by Mike Hailwood and Pasolini
- Renzo Pasolini was a popular figure on the 'Continental Circus', as the Grand Prix scene was known in the late 60s, and won numerous Grand Prix, though failed to win a World Championship, finishing in 1972 just a point behind Jarno Saarinen. In the same year Pasolini took the Benelli 500 to victory in an epic duel between Saarinen and Giacomo Agostini at Pesaro
- This replica, based on a 1978 Benelli, is fitted with a Honda 500/4 engine and is described by the vendor, as sounding very similar to Hailwood's Honda six-cylinder machine, with a raucous wail through its straight-through pipes
- Fitted with Hagon shocks and Akront rims, the bike has been part of a collection for a number of years and, although not ridden since 2016, has regularly been started and brought up to temperature. May well need some light recommissioning ahead of being returned to the road
- Registered for the road in the UK in 1989 although there is no V5 with the bike. HPI checks show the bike is still registered on an age-related plate as a 500cc Benelli and therefore obtaining a V5C should be straightforward
- Demonstrated on the Isle of Man in the past and would make a great Parade bike, or fast road-going machine
