SUMMARY

One of only 58 1967 24RES 246cc racers built, this rare survivor has been fully restored by its engineer owner and is beautifully presented and in good running order. A rare opportunity to purchase a fully sorted example of this desirable Greeves racer.

DESCRIPTION

  • Built through versions RAS to RES until 1968, the Silverstone provided many an aspiring star with their first taste of road racing, and today remains a popular mount in Classic racing’s 250 class
  • The 1967 24RES was powered by a 31bhp, 246cc (66 x 72mm bore/stroke) single-cylinder two-stroke engine with a Greeves-designed alloy cylinder barrel and head, based on a Villiers 36A or 37A/Villiers Starmaker base engine in later versions with an Albion 5-speed gearbox
  • Noted for its rigidity, the bike was built around a unique combination of a cast alloy beam downtube and a steel frame
  • One of around a dozen survivors of the 58 24RES examples built, this beautifully presented 1967 24RES has been fully restored by its engineer owner with no expense spared, and is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best currently available
  • Full frame-up restoration including new fibreglass parts including, tank, fairing, seat-unit etc.
  • Fitted with electronic ignition, along with new rear shocks and the front suspension has been fully rebuilt
  • Full engine rebuild, with new pistons and rings and the crank has been rebalanced
  • New rims and tyres along with new chain and sprockets
  • Reportedly running and riding very well, the bike is ready to race or parade
  • A rare opportunity to purchase a very well sorted 1967 24RES Silverstone
