SUMMARY

A very rare car, formerly owned by the CEO of the Edsel Owners Club of America, UK-registered since 1997 with appearances on the big screen and a regular at classic car shows.

DESCRIPTION

  • Manufactured in 1959, this first generation, facelift Edsel Ranger two-door saloon is fitted with the economical 3.7-litre straight-six Ford 'Mileage Maker' mated to a column shift 3-speed automatic
  • An expensive footnote in the Ford Motor Company’s mid-century production history, the Edsel was intended as a fourth brand, but was discontinued after just three years
  • The classic car enthusiast, however, adores rarity and this car was later owned by the CEO of the Edsel Owners Club of America, and later bought directly from his family by Eddie 'Mr Edsel' Clarkson who registered it into the UK on 15/01/1997
  • Purchased from Mr Clarkson’s widow by our vendor in 2019 joining his collection of American cars
  • Regularly displayed and in demand with filmmakers, it even featured in Harrison Ford’s last appearance as Indiana Jones
  • Imported with some 38,000 miles, the car has covered some 10,500 miles since and is presented to auction with an MOT valid until 30/01/2026, a long list of spares and a workshop manual
  • A rare car, keenly estimated, with an impeccable provenance and even used by Wikipedia in their entry on the model
